BIOGRAFÍA

I undertook specialist training in Psychiatry at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, during which I was awarded a grant by the Spanish Foundation of Psychiatry and Mental Health for a five-month Research Fellowship at the Psychiatric Institute of Columbia University, where I collaborated in a project detecting and treating youth at clinical high risk for psychosis. After completing my residency, I was awarded a 2-year Alicia Koplowitz Foundation Fellowship for the Institute of Psychiatry at Kings College London. During this fellowship I was able to combine further clinical training in child and adolescent psychiatry, with research in neuroimaging in early psychosis. The research I carried at Kings formed the basis of my European PhD which I was awarded in 2012 by the University of Barcelona (qualification: Excellent Cum Laude), directed by Professor Eric Taylor and Professor Sophia Frangou.

Both my clinical and research skills acquired during my Fellowship played an important role in helping me obtain my current position, which I hold since 2013. This is a mixed clinical/research post, in which I combine clinical work as a Senior Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Institute of Neuroscience, Hospital Clinic of Barcelona) with a research post as Junior Group Leader at the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS). This has given me the opportunity to develop my own line of research focused on understanding the neural bases of psychosis in adolescents, around which I have a built my own research group "Multimodal neuroimaging in high risk and early psychosis". My work has been backed by both public and private, national and international funding, including a 2017 NARSAD Young Investigator Award by the Brain and Behaviour Research Foundation (US), various prizes, and has led to numerous scientific publications. I currently supervise three PhD students and two masters’ students at the University of Barcelona, and have recently incorporated a Marie-Skodolska Post-doctoral Fellow into my team.
