RESUMEN

The constant growth and widespread availability of digital mobile technologies (i.e. smartphones and wearables) and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) over the last decades have been a subject of intense interest and research in psychiatry. The potential of these digital tools at collecting a new kind of passive and active information (known as digital markers) to determine illness activity and also provide cost-effective and tailored interventions based on them, have raised many hopes. In this session, we will briefly review the latest evidence-based advancements in the field of psychiatry using mobile digital technologies and AI, particularly in mood disorders. Challenges in the academic field hampering the advancement of these technologies and its implementation into clinical practice will be discussed.
